715am: Still up wondering what's going on, when felt like I had to go to the toilet again -- except this time it felt uncontrollable. Called the hospital to figure out whether it broke or not & what next steps were. Even though there was no contractions or pain, they recommended coming in. Feeling like it is another wasted trip, we opt to leave the hospital bag at home.
945am: after a shower & breakfast, made unscheduled trip #2 to the Labor Ward in a taxi.
1145am: they finally see us, as they were quite busy at the hospital dealing with women actually in labor. The midwife seems convinced that I've just pissed myself, but does the routine assessment. First she says my waters have broken. Then says she feels the water sack around the baby's head still filled with water (meaning it hasnt broken). She goes ahead and does a membrane sweep (which should hopefully encourage me to go into labor), but feels quite strongly that I will not naturally go into labor in the next 48 hours since the baby's head is not engaged (in the birth canal) and since I am not dialated. It could be that I have a leak in the membrane or that my waters have actually broken, so they are treating it as if it has broken.... which means that they will induce me in 24 hours time as there is a risk of infection to the baby.
1230 noon: they send me home. Next steps -- I'm scheduled to go back into the hospital Monday evening at 8pm. They'll likely give me an IV with antibiotics to make sure there infection will not be an issue. If I have not gone into labor (i.e. contractions), then they'll formally begin the induction process -- try the gels, maybe give me the hormone injection, etc.
330pm: waters have in fact broken. They've told me to stay home. Still no pain or contractions. just water (and a lot of it). It could be a long process. will try to keep you updated via the blog.
