Mon, 3 May -- It was Bank Holiday Monday here and we were suppose to take a day trip out of the city with friends (we'll have to reschedule Lizzie!), but had canceled with the water situation.
Probably for the better considering we had not picked out a name yet. After some research and calling some family, we settled on Ava Elizabeth.
The name means "God's Promise of Life", as we picked it as a show of remembrance and appreciation of what the Lord is doing in our life. Ava is a derivation of Hebrew for "Life"; we liked it bc it was short, sweet, easy to pronounce/spell, and didnt sound too Western/Indian/Asian. We liked the meaning and story behind Elizabeth, which means "God's Promise". In the New Testament, Elizabeth was the aunt of Jesus who was barren but the Lord blessed her with a child (John the Baptist), who went on to tell of Jesus' arrival.
As some of you know, we had a somewhat dramatic miscarriage in Fall 2008. (a molar pregnancy with concern it turned cancerous, while Peter was deployed and applying to business schools). Interestingly, had that child had come, it would have arrived in May also and we likely would have stayed in the US.
The London move has been exciting, but with it's challenges -- selling all our possessions, far from family, out of work for a year, getting use to Peter not being in the military, the financial crisis, etc. But the Lord knew what He was doing as we have grown so much spiritually by relying on Him. And He has blessed us -- we found a great church, have made wonderful friends, both secured wonderful jobs, have had some unexpected financial cashflow, Peter having 3 months of no school/work at the start of the baby's arrival, being able to move into a new place prior to her arrival... and the list goes on.
