It's Official!

So these past few days/weeks have seemed a bit stressful. I haven't really gained weight (probably because I've been working/walking a lot and have had evening sickness), and my hunger pangs have been off and on. Because I only did 1 Over The Counter pregnancy test and had no hospital offial tests conducted (they dont do that here, they just wait to do a scan at 12 weeks), I felt like I didnt know what was going on. I haven't bothered to look at a single book or web site because I didnt know how far along I was. Have hesitated to tell people because I didnt know how far along I was. You get the point- I was feeling a bit of tension.

Well, a huge blessing: Peter was talking to a friend who is getting ready to have twins. Because Peter was a bit too interested in the situation, the friend asked Peter if we were expecting. Come to find out, there is a Fetal Medical Research Clinic very close to us that does scans for a fee. Considering my 1st midwife appointment is next week and I'd get my first scan a few days or weeks... I just couldnt wait that long! We were very blessed to get an appointment today at noon. We had signed up for the Basic Scan (for 6-10 weeks), but when the doctor started looking he said "You are way too far along for this". With the more detailed scan, he was able to pin point that I was exactly 11 weeks and 6 days along. Crazy! It was very cool because we saw both feet, all 5 fingers, the heart beating, the legs kicking. The technichian said he was surprised to see how "naughty" it was being because it was "hiding", as you should be able to see the baby better at this stage and with my size. He isnt my physician, but he said everything looked good so far. So I take my results to my 1st Midwife appointment on Monday.

It was quite cool because Peter came with me. I started getting a bit annoyed in the beginning because he seemed to be much more interested in the fact that GE is the one providing the state-of-the-art technology rather than the baby (this was during the Basic Scan where we didnt see much), but he was quite excited when you could actually see the details of the baby. I think it was cool for both of us because the only evidence we've had so far has been me being very high maintenance. (now there's proof!)
