11 Month Memories & America Trip #3

Ava enjoyed her 3rd trip to the US for 2 weeks (22 Apr - 7 May). We get Good Friday and Easter Monday off here. Also, the Royal Wedding was a holiday and was the same weekend of the 1st May Bank Holiday. So we decided to take advantage of 4 vacation days and book the trip over, especially since it coincided with Ava's birthday (more on that in the other post). While the highlight of the month was the America trip, some other memorable moments to remember are....

*Spring: Has to be the best time of year in London-- everything is in bloom, clear skies, warm weather. LOVE IT! We've been lunching in the park and loving the swings.

*Prayer: It has been fun to pray with Ava before mealtimes. I really feel we are thanking God for his provision and that He watches over us during this daily routine. I think we take for granted how stressful this can be -- choking hazards (grapes, fish bone, long pieces of spinach) and allergies. Since we first started solids at 6 months, we've been praying with her at every meal. Before we use to pick up and hold her hands, squeezing them when we said "In Jesus name, Amen"). Now she gives us her hands when we ask and every once in a while she bows her head!

*The Next Generation of Ava Exploration: wow, I didnt think it could get more creative. I'm not fast enough to capture all the funny Ava moments: standing on her tip-toes to look into the fridge, falling into her toy bin, pulling laundry out of the hamper, playing with the video monitor looking into her cot, setting aside cauliflower so she can eat the peas, thinking it is normal to turn around in the highchair (even if you are sitting backwards), her silly facial expressions... and the list could go on.
*America - home of Sammy, Elmo, and the Moroccan Hat: Yes, these are not items that make you think Americana (i.e. home of the free & brave, philly cheese steaks, or those citizens who believe ultimate frisbee is a real sport). You see, Ava LOVES Sammy the dog (not to be confused with Sami the Boy who is also our godson). He was the only one who got the excited "Hi!!!" or who could get Ava's tears to stop. While they had a few moments of Sammy licking food off Ava's hand, he didnt care of her (and was possibly the only one relieved Ava left). Elmo was the stuffed toy she hung out with and was the first time we actually witnessed her giving a hug to. And the hat was something Peter's dad picked up during a recent visit to Morocco to help keep him dry in the rain. We put it on her for shits & giggles, not thinking she would like it. Not sure what the allure is, but it sure can't be the design.
