Sorry I didnt write in these last 2 months, as things have been really busy:
*getting back from the US always takes a bit -- time difference, laundry, etc
*Ava started crawling from the moment we put her down upon arriving. Not sure if it was familiar territory or she was happy to not be surrounded by people. Within a few days, she got really fast, testing her boundaries (discovering the floor in the kitchen and even leaving the flat!)
*We started brushing her teeth after breakfast and after dinner. She loves the baby toothpaste. We give her the tooth brush first while she sits in her bumbo chair (she basically sucks the paste), then we brush her teeth after while we hold her over the sink.
*Once she was down to 3-4 milk feeds a day, I stopped breastfeeding (about 9 months). She was a bit fussy going to the bottle, but she's now settled in. Initially I was feeling sentimental, but for many reasons, I did feel like it was time to stop.
*Upon attending the allergy clinic, they confirmed she is allergic to cow's milk and also identified she is allergic to egg and peanut. She gets texted in 6 months (1 yr & 3 mo); hopefully she will grow out of it sooner than later.
*She's become a solid eater. We love the Phil & Ted's chair which allows us to go eat anywhere (a lot of places here dont mind you bringing a baby in, but they dont have high chairs). I try to feed her either lunch or dinner outside of the house.
*Ava now claps when you say "yea!!!". She tries to wave when you wave & say hello/bye, but she looks unsure as if she is flopping a broken wing. She has an adorable "surprised" face (the picture below), opening her jaw REALLY wide as if she thinks you are funny (apparently I do this). She loves pulling herself up onto everything -- first our sofa, futon, and footstool (they were perfect height); then chairs; and now our bed & the tub.
*Routine has been critical to keep Ava socialized/stimulated and me sane.
-Mon: me to the gym while Ava's in the creche, meeting a friend after for lunch.
-Tues: Swim class in the morning and discussing "Shepherding A Child's Heart" with friends over at my place.
-Wed: lunch with friends and gym/creche
-Thurs: Lunch in the city with Peter, then gymboree/dinner with friends.
-Fri: Bible study at church in morning with lunch afterwards, then gym/creche
Some days I feel wiped out and other days limited. But the routine has been good (although it means I've not been able to blog!). As I looked through the pictures taken since December since Ava's started scooting and exploring, I cant decide which to write about. There are so many cute stories behind each picture. She is so active now and learning so quickly. Some days I feel I cannot capture the moment fast enough. So hopefully you'll look thru the pictures we've uploaded to Shutterfly (link on the right).
