First it was a black and white picture book (Thanks Whatleys!). She could sit for quite a while staring at the same picture. It was also the first thing she tracked with her eyes (except that her head was so big/heavy, she had trouble following the picture the other way!).
Then we started reading her small picture books. It really depends on her mood, as sometimes she loves it and just sits and looks. Other times she couldnt be bothered for me to even hold her.
Recently we bought her a soft book to read on her own, which she just sits and looks at (sometimes putting it in her mouth of course).
Ever since Peter's mom saw her at 2 weeks, she always joked "Ava has to study so she can go to Harvard". Who knows -- Harvard or a librarian or a professor. All great future options. Maybe she is like her Auntie Hannah (who was once caught reading while taking a shower). All we know is Peter and I are not readers so she didnt get it from us.
And, as proof that we are not staging this...
