Ava's 6 weeks today and she had her first doctors appt (the midwife use to come to us before), where they said all is well. She is 3.6kgs / 7.9 pounds, moving from the 2nd to the 9th percentile. She's facinated with lights now, tracking them all the time as we move her. After she feeds and is changed, we put her down on a blanket to have a kick around where she plays nicely by herself. She's started to make coo-ing noises which are really cute. We've been really blessed this past week because she's sleeping well at night, waking up only for her 1 feed at 3am. She's quite active in her sleep too -- swinging her arms, moving her head side-to-side like stevie wonder, and making lots of noises (sometimes we pick her up thinking she is awake, which ends up waking her up). The noises wake us early in the morning, so I think we'll be moving her soon from the moses basket in our room into her cot in her room.
We've been going out a bit more too.
-2 wks: peter & I took her for a walk in the park
-3 wks: her first official outing to church
-4 wks: I left the house by myself with her and met some girls at the park and then went to a friend's house for tea.
-5 wks: I went with a friend & her son on a bus (a bit stressful, but must learn to do it!) to Oxford Street (stressful as well as it's quite crowded) where I had my first commute in London rain! We also did our first restaurant outing over lunch. I took her out for the first time in the Baby Bjorn (the front sling & best invention ever!!)
We are really trying to stick to our evening schedule as long as we are in the house: 5pm feed, 6pm bath then feed, 7pm sleep.
Peter's parents and sister come to visit in 2 weeks. We'll be taking our first vacation with them: going by train for 5 nights in the English countryside in the Cotswolds.
